April is for Diamonds............

I love diamonds....

Any excuse to wear diamonds, for me rose cut and uncut are particular favourites......

The history behind the wearing of diamonds comes from all corners of the world.
The word 'diamond' comes from the Greek word 'adamastos' which means invincible. They belived the diamond reflected the flame of everlasting love.

The origin of wearing the engagement ring on the third finger of the left hand is from the Egyptian belief that the vein of love or 'vena amoris' runs from the heart to this finger.

In sixteenth century England 'scribbling rings' were worn. These rings were made from uncut diamonds, the exposed points were used by lovers to etch romantic vows into window panes.
