Sycamore Seed Jewellery

I've recently discovered how much I wear my jewellery as armour for the day.

During a really difficult 5 months, without really realising it, I had been choosing to wear certain pieces of jewellery, and found it really hard if they needed to come off.

I began looking more into the historical meanings of some of the plants and trees that I use in my jewellery designs.

The jewellery I had picked to wear everyday meant even more.

One necklace is the linked sycamore, this heavy chain is a lovely piece to wear.

Sycamore trees are hardy, their ability to withstand harsh environments means they have come to

 symbolise Perseverance, Resilience and Strength.

I've always enjoyed using sycamore seeds for their shapes and textures, how you can repeat them, or have a left and a right.

I've used a variety of sized seeds in my work, single seeds and double, creating a collection of pendants, rings, bracelets, chains, earrings and lapel pins.

The sycamore collection was one of the first, and it's always been popular.

The Sycamores unique 'helicopter' seeds which spin as they fall to the ground hold nostalgic memories for many.

Because the seeds are carried on the wind from the parent tree, they are a reminder of the journey of life and the different directions it can take us.

Like the sycamore sometimes it's all about finding our

Perseverance, Resilience and Strength
